Visiting NISSO Technical Center Kumamoto to Explore Engineering Talent Development for the Japanese Labor Market

On July 8, 2026, we visited NISSO Technical Center Kumamoto in Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan, to study Nisso Corporation's engineering workforce development system and discuss future collaboration in preparing Thai engineers for careers in Japan.

During the visit, our delegation toured various classrooms and training facilities designed to meet the needs of Japan's manufacturing industry. We also learned about Nisso's hands-on training approach, where trainees develop practical skills using industrial equipment, tools, and machinery similar to those used in actual manufacturing environments, enabling them to be well prepared before entering the workplace.

In addition, we experienced the use of Virtual Reality (VR) technology in engineering education and practical training. The VR system allows trainees to simulate real working environments, practice operational procedures, and learn workplace safety in an immersive setting, enhancing learning effectiveness while overcoming many of the limitations of conventional training methods.

Following the facility tour, we held discussions with the management and staff of Nisso Corporation regarding the future development of the Thai Engineering Career Pathway to Japan, with particular emphasis on expanding the SPU-NISSO-NA Engineering Program. The discussions focused on designing a curriculum that meets the evolving needs of Japanese industries, covering engineering competencies, Japanese language proficiency, and comprehensive pre-employment preparation.

We firmly believe that strengthening collaboration with our partners in Japan will play a vital role in enhancing the capabilities of Thai engineers while creating greater opportunities for the next generation of Thai students to pursue rewarding careers with leading Japanese companies.
